ALBA (Auckland Lesbian Business Association) usually meets monthly.
Meetings are generally held upstairs at the Family and Naval, cnr K' Rd and Pitt Street. Doors open 6pm.
Current 2009 programme is as follows:
February 11th - Light, Love and Laughter
This our first meeting back and we thought it was a time to catch up with friends meet some new people and have a laugh. We have lined up a few people that have got some amusing stories to tell and we have even got some ukulele players to entertain us with a couple of tunes.
March 12th - The Oil Rollercoaster - Kathleen Ryan and Fiona Ryan
No they are not related but both have something to say. Kathleen will give an overview of where we are heading in relation to the Oil supplies and the issues that we will need to consider in planning for the decline in oil supplies. Fiona will give us some information about finding ways to reduce petrol use.
April 9th - Agencies that Support Lesbians - Panel Discussion
We have a panel of three people that either work for are involved in supporting Lesbians. We will hear about the kinds of support available to women who find themselves involved in violent relationships, who are struggling to recover from relationship break-ups and those dealing with drug and alcohol dependency.
May 14th - Sisters Sing yer heart out
Winter is looming and we thought it was time to have a bit of jam and sing the old party songs that we all know and love to sing. We want all you musicians to bring you guitars and the rest of you to come along prepared to sing your heart out.
June 11th - Watch out for more details
July - The Mid-Winter Dinner.
We replace this meeting with a mid-winter dinner. It is usually held on a Saturday night at a restaurant. This is a very popular event so watch out for more details closer to the time.
